Upper GI (Gastro-Intestinal) Series

What is the procedure?

This study evaluates the anatomy of the esophagus, stomach, and small bowel. After you drink barium for this study, the Radiologist will take multiple pictures using Fluoroscopy.

How much time is involved?
30 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment.

Am I allowed to eat or drink before this exam?
Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight on the day of your appointment.

Please inform the staff if there is any possibility of pregnancy at the time of scheduling your appointment.
