Obstetrical (OB) Ultrasound

What is the procedure?
This exam studies the baby or fetus, the placenta, the surrounding fluid and uterus. No ionizing radiation is transmitted during the examination.

How much time is involved?
1 hour. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment.

Am I allowed to eat or drink before this exam?
You will need to have a full bladder - five 8 oz. glasses of water at least one hour before the exam unless you are in your third trimester of your pregnancy.
