Pelvic Ultrasound

What is the procedure?
This exam studies the uterus, ovaries and bladder. No ionizing radiation is transmitted during the examination. You will need a full bladder initially to best perform this study. A probe may also be placed into your vagina (endovaginal probe) to better define the pelvic area anatomy.

How much time is involved?
30-45 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment.

Am I allowed to eat or drink before this exam?
You will need to have a full bladder - five 8 oz. Glasses of water at least one hour before the exam.

Please inform the staff if there is any possibility of pregnancy at the time of scheduling your appointment.
